What is the New Approaches Conference?

New Approaches is an annual forum fostering dialogue that explores how policy innovation and technological innovation complement each other in reducing global tobacco dependence to prevent combustible tobacco-related deaths. The conference will discuss how modern nicotine solutions, such as Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), improved pharmaceutical Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs), and tobacco-free nicotine products, coupled with tobacco cessation strategies can improve lives and meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference features approaches to policy and regulatory, science, innovation, investment, sustainability, and more.

The one-day event is hosted annually adjacent to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and Climate week in September. The event is held in-person in NYC and livestream is available for remote attendees to watch the sessions.
This year's 3rd annual meeting is on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Harvard Club of NYC (from 8:00AM-7:00PM in-person EDT) / Virtual Livestream from 8:45AM-5:30PM EDT) - register here to attend 2024.
Next year's 4th annual Save the Date will be on Monday, September 22, 2025.

In alignment with Article 5.3 of the WHO tobacco treaty, the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), this event maintains complete independence and receives no funding or interference from tobacco industries. Yes, journalists are encouraged and welcome to attend. If you are a journalist interested in obtaining a media accreditation, or to schedule on-site interviews with select speakers, panelists, or the organizers please complete the media registration form. Media representatives attend for free; you may be asked to supply details of the organization or outlet you work for or, if freelance, which has commissioned you. If you are unable to join the in-person event, a ZOOM livestream option is available via the ticket registration link. Live session will follow the agenda times from 8:45 AM - 5:30 PM EDT. Following the event, availability to select speaker presentation may vary.
How do I register for tickets and what is the cost to attend?

Click the "REGISTER 2024" button on the event website homepage, ticketed via Eventbrite here. Early registration is recommended as space is limited to 150 attendees. We strive to make the conference as accessible as possible, particularly for media, NGOs, students, individuals, and advocates. Tiers range from $100.00 to $1500.00 depending on your professional delegate category tier. Breakfast, lunch, refreshments during the day, and a networking cocktail reception is included. While primarily an in-person event, a live-stream option is available for remote attendees. If joining remotely, select the Livestream only tier for Zoom login access (sessions times 8:45 AM-5:30 PM EDT)
Are there accommodations and travel arrangements provided?

Attendees are responsible for their own accommodations and travel arrangements. The conference organizers may provide information on recommended hotels nearby the venue located in midtown, but it is advisable to book well in advance given New York City is peak season adjacent to UNGA activities the month of September. Nearby airports include LGA, EWR, and JFK.
