What is the New Approaches Conference?

New Approaches is an annual global policy and research symposium on tobacco control and harm reduction held during United Nations General Assembly and Climate week in New York City. The forum focuses on advancing dialogue around innovative policies and technologies that reduce global tobacco dependence and prevent deaths from combustible tobacco. The conference explores how modern nicotine solutions, improved pharmaceutical nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs), and tobacco-free nicotine products, coupled with tobacco cessation strategies can improve health outcomes and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sessions cover topics including policy, regulation, science, innovation, investment, sustainability, and more.

Yes, journalists are encouraged and welcome to attend. If you are a journalist interested in obtaining a media accreditation, or to schedule on-site interviews with select speakers, panelists, or the organizers please complete the media registration form. Media representatives attend for free; you may be asked to supply details of the organization or outlet you work for or, if freelance, which has commissioned you. If you are unable to join the in-person event, a ZOOM livestream option is available via the ticket registration link. The livestream will follow the agenda times from 8:45 AM - 5:30 PM EDT. Following the event, availability to select speaker presentation and recordings may vary.
How do I register for tickets and what is the cost to attend?

Click the "REGISTER 2025" button on the event website homepage, ticketed via Eventbrite here. Early registration is recommended as space is limited to 150 attendees. We strive to make the annual event as accessible as possible, particularly for media, NGOs, students, individuals, and advocates. Tiers range from $100.00 to $1600.00 depending on your professional delegate category tier. Breakfast, lunch, refreshments during the day, and a networking cocktail reception is included. While primarily an in-person event, a live-stream option is available for remote attendees. If joining remotely, select the Livestream only tier for ZOOM login access (sessions times 8:45 AM-5:30 PM EDT)

Attendees are responsible for their own accommodations and travel arrangements. The organizers may provide information on recommended hotels nearby the venue located in midtown, but it is advisable to book well in advance given New York City is peak season adjacent to UNGA activities the month of September. Nearby airports include LGA, EWR, and JFK.
